Hex Shelf is a simple project that explores the idea of ornament performing multiple roles in the conception and assembly of a project. In this case, a pattern that reveals the contents of a storage unit translates into a structural detail. The plans include a single “cut file” necessary for a mill to cut the pieces for Hex Shelf. After the pieces are milled, it is a simple task to drill pilot holes and screw the piece of your shelf together. It is modern design made simple. Two complete Hex Shelf units can be made from a single ¾” thick sheet of 4’ x 8’ birch plywood. Cut file in DWG format available upon purchase.
