Formed in 2001, KRDB is a design-build firm with an entrepreneurial approach to the discipline that creates opportunities rather than awaits them. By developing their own projects, they’ve been able to explore and test design while achieving their goal of making extraordinary buildings that are financially accessible.
Team
Chris Krager is a registered architect in Texas and holds a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. With a background in finance that includes a degree from Michigan State University, Chris has been able to facilitate his goal of making good design accessible. Over the past five years, Chris has used KRDB to develop MA, an affordable pre-fab housing system that recently finished its initial prototype. Chris resides in Austin, Texas, with his wife, filmmaker Amy Grappell, and their dog Blue.
Recognition
KRDB has won several AIA awards, including the Firm Achievement Award in 2001. KRDB's work has been published in Dwell, Architectural Record, Residential Architect, Metropolitan Home and Ready Made, among others. KRDB has been featured in Karrie Jacob’s book The Perfect $100,000 House; Susanna Sirefman’s Modern Shoestring; and Kira Obolensky’s Good House, Cheap House; as well as on HGTV and the Fine Living Channel.
