Bernheimer Architecture
Della Valle Bernheimer projects are devised through research and a strong philosophical stance that no project should mimic one that came before it. While technical strategies and solutions may re-appear, each project’s parti is inherently related to the specifics and differences of site and client. While this is not an earth-shattering pronouncement, this lack of an overarching signature is, ironically, liberating. It breeds variety. The studio's imprint is visible in a consistent sensitivity to material, to invention, to utility, and to execution. We believe in consistency but not in homogeneity.
For more than a decade, Andrew Bernheimer has honed an affinity for executing subtle, exciting, and complex architecture within the constraints of real-world construction practices. With a diverse background in the world of high design and academia, Bernheimer’s focus is on the thoughtful translation of conceptualism into built form and on executing works of complexity and subtlety with a strong sense of economy and practicality. Thriving on project variety, Bernheimer has been fortunate enough to work for a diverse portfolio of public, institutional, non-profit, and private clients whose wide-ranging context and personalities has elicited a welcome variety of thought and response. Personally engaged in all DB’s projects, Bernheimer actively participates in the entire design process, all phases of documentation, and throughout construction. Bernheimer received a Masters Degree in Architecture with Honors from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College.Bernheimer is a licensed Architect in New York State, a member of AIA, NCARB Registered, and a member and supporter of the Architectural League of NY.
