Barry Price Architecture

It is the balance between the production of buildings and their relationship to the natural environment that informs and inspires the work of the studio.

Familiar mixed with modern for bold compositions of light, space and line.

Barry Price Architecture combines familiar elements with modern techniques to achieve lasting compositions of light, space, and line. Each project reconciles the regional climatic demands with regionally informed modern architecture and construction. Recent projects refine the “agri-modern style” by using renewable energy and high-performance building strategies, and long life-cycle materials. It is the balance between the production of buildings and their relationship to the natural environment that informs and inspires the work of the studio.

Barry Price began his Woodstock, New York, architectural practice in 1996. Drawn to upstate New York by the beauty and diversity of the Hudson Valley, his work is informed by the agricultural buildings that form the primary building fabric of the region. His prior experience in Boston and Los Angeles includes commercial and institutional architectural projects, project management for a landscape design practice, and production management for an electric stringed instrument manufacturer. Coupled with extensive architecture instruction to undergraduates, the diversity of Barry's experience informs the range of tectonic, formal and compositional strategies employed in his work.
